Question for all the food and wine lovers out there

So, food and beverage pairings are certainly important, but what about matching foods and beverages to events?

Champagne and weddings is an easy one, but what about laundry? What do you drink after a final exam? Hard Liquor? What about after SCUBA? Personally, I think a slightly sweet Riesling or Gewurztraminer would cut the salt of the ocean nicely.
