So I guess a 6.9 earthquake (haha, 6.9) means the whole boobquake thing was kind of... um... a bust?
Thanks Sam for the tip!

Chile's quake may have shifted Earth's Axis
Seeing as this was the 7th strongest quake ever recorded, I guess that's possible. So far, 2010 sure is off to a crazy start.
I know many of you gave to the Haitian relief efforts, but please don't ignore Chile.
Thanks Mike N for the tip.

Can Animals Foresee Natural Disasters?
The idea has been around for centuries. The scientific evidence grows in favor of yes it seems.
I don't think it's likely that animals have an extra uncatagorized sense for these things, but it's logical that through their superior senses of hearing, etc they would have a lot more warning about this stuff than we do.

10 Cool things about John Muir
Everyone has their heros. Rock stars, sports legends, movie stars, the list goes on. Call me what nerdy names you will, but one of my great personal heros is John Muir. Tree Hugger posted a nice little story detailing 10 cool things about John Muir. If it wasn't for him, we simply wouldn't have the park system we do today in the United States.

EARTH HOUR!
THE MOVEMENT IS GROWING DAILY: Nearly 100 US cities, towns, and communities have now pledged to "turn out" for the largest climate event in history, with more signing up each day. Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Tucson, Orlando, and not one, but two Arlingtons—Texas and Virginia! We're anxious to hear from four more Arlingtons in Washington State, Illinois, Tennessee, and Massachusetts!
A complete list of US cities can be found at: www.EarthHourUS.org/map.php.
DANKE SCHOEN: Globally, 1,485 cities are going dark, with Berlin, Germany becoming the latest major European city to sign on to turn out. Earth Hour is now taking place in 9 out of the Top 10 cities in the world by population—Karachi in Pakistan remains the last hold-out.
ALANIS MORISSETTE SUPPORTS "BIGGEST TURN-OFF" IN HISTORY: View The "toenail" ad that has everyone talking.
"TURN OUT, TAKE ACTION" IS MORE THAN JUST A SLOGAN: We need you to let your elected leaders know that you care about the future of our planet and are looking to them to take action in support of climate legislation. You can send a letter to your Member of Congress and Senator with a few mouse clicks at the Earth Hour website at www.EarthHourUS.org/raiseyourvoice.
