Yeah, I know, It's been like a zillion days since I posted last. Sorry, I just haven't seen a lot of good stuff lately. Also, I have not had the time to post stuff for the 2 people who actually read this blog.

And by 2 people, I mean my right and left eyes. Although, sometimes the right one is partially closed.

Blogger is full of fail

So, like most blogger users today, I had a few posts deleted/never quite made it to the front page. Unlike most other blogger users, it seems my posts were forever lost in the ether.

The Raid on Bin Laden's compound and social media.

What does a raid on a terrorist compound and the ensuing social media commentary have to do with weird news? Actually, for once, everything.

First off, try to imagine your life 10 years ago. Most of you were still fooling around with beepers, forget cell phones, or any kind of smart phone. Now we live in a world where we people can unwittingly tweet about secret raids. $5 says someone in the neighborhood has cell phone video of it all too. I'll call that weird.

We also interact with our news in ways humans could never have dreamed of in the past. For better or for worse, take this article for example. We've found silly, yet ingenious ways to combine our news, or social media, or whole lives together on the internet. People are reviewing Bin-Laden's compound as if it was a restaurant.

The internet may not be new in the sense that it is a technology that brings us news faster than preceding technologies, but it sure does it in interesting ways.

How to use my blog

A few of you have asked me questions about interacting with my blog. So I'm going to answer them. By a few of you, I mean really a few of the voices in my head, but I'll answer the questions anyway. Check it all out after the jump.

Sorry for any oddities that pop up on the blog today. I'm monkeying with the layout. I already see that a post made it to the feed with a typo in the title before I could correct it. Still working out the kinks.

BTW, anyone else out there using the new blogger templates, they apparently are not good friends with Firefox running noscript.

Coming up on our 1 year anniversary!!

It's hard to believe, but this blog is almost 1 year old. For our first birthday, I'm taking suggestions for anniversary posts. Leave a comment with a topic or something or other you'd like to see me post about, and I'll try to make it happen. The anniversary posts will appear on the 10th, so you've got 7 days to submit ideas.

If you do read this blog via e-mail, you might want to visit the actual web blog once in a while. A lot of stories that are good, but not really quite good enough to have their own feature can be found in a little news feed at the top left corner of the blog. See big red square in picture above.
