The Raid on Bin Laden's compound and social media.

What does a raid on a terrorist compound and the ensuing social media commentary have to do with weird news? Actually, for once, everything.

First off, try to imagine your life 10 years ago. Most of you were still fooling around with beepers, forget cell phones, or any kind of smart phone. Now we live in a world where we people can unwittingly tweet about secret raids. $5 says someone in the neighborhood has cell phone video of it all too. I'll call that weird.

We also interact with our news in ways humans could never have dreamed of in the past. For better or for worse, take this article for example. We've found silly, yet ingenious ways to combine our news, or social media, or whole lives together on the internet. People are reviewing Bin-Laden's compound as if it was a restaurant.

The internet may not be new in the sense that it is a technology that brings us news faster than preceding technologies, but it sure does it in interesting ways.

Sometimes, you takes these things for granted

 Everything about this story is awesome. From the Weird Universe piece to the title of the actual news article it came from. "A Happy Ending for a Farmer's Anus Woes". Seriously. How can you not love an article with that kind of title?

I am pretty happy for the farmer, I have to say.

Boing Boing points out a fairly interesting revelation today:

"the founders of the country originally put 'certain restrictions on who gets the right to vote. One of those was you had to be a property owner. And that makes a lot of sense, because if you're a property owner you actually have a vested stake in the community. If you're not a property owner, you know, I'm sorry but property owners have a little bit more of a vested interest in the community than non-property owners.'"

World's Smallest Tiger Sculpture

Apparently this smaller than a grain of rice little wonder is the world's smallest tiger sculpture. I can't tell if he's got a pony tail or a major mullet going on. Either way, I forgive him. He's a crazy artist and it comes with the territory.
